The Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF) announced the R1-2026 Commercialization Awardees, investing $1.6 million this cycle to help Maryland-based companies translate science into scalable therapies that reach patients. Stemora, Inc. was named among the awardees for its work advancing skeletal stem cell therapies for cartilage regeneration.
Through MSCRF's Commercialization grant program, Stemora will continue developing its platform, which uses a modular, controlled-release biomaterial system to activate endogenous skeletal stem cells and create a pro-regenerative environment within cartilage defects. The award supports the company's mission to deliver a one-step, intraoperative regenerative therapy for osteoarthritis and cartilage injuries.

Each company is advancing a distinct regenerative medicine approach: RoosterBio is scaling extracellular-vesicle production bioprocesses from induced pluripotent stem cells, HOHcells is breaking barriers in cryopreservation with FreezOpt, and Theradaptive is engineering bioactive titanium to improve orthopedic hardware.
Through its commercialization grant program, MSCRF has built Maryland into a regenerative medicine hub — helping local companies bridge the toughest gap: moving discoveries from the lab to the marketplace.
