Frederick, MD — June 10, 2026

TEDCO, Maryland's economic engine for technology companies, has announced a $25,000 investment in Stemora Inc. through its Pre-Seed Rural Business Innovation Initiative (RBII) Fund, supporting the rural Maryland company's work to transform how osteoarthritis is treated.
Where most current osteoarthritis therapies focus on easing symptoms, Stemora is pursuing a stem cell-based approach aimed at the root cause of the disease — cartilage degeneration. The company's goal is to restore damaged cartilage and improve long-term joint function, rather than simply managing pain.
“Our stem cell research aims to move beyond symptom management and work toward reversing osteoarthritis, ultimately improving patients' quality of life. This funding will help us continue our research and development efforts toward stopping and reversing cartilage degeneration.”
Stemora joined TEDCO's portfolio following earlier support from the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF) Commercialization Fund. TEDCO's RBII program is designed to strengthen innovation across rural Maryland by giving early-stage technology companies access to funding, mentoring, technical assistance, and business support — accelerating the path from discovery to commercialization.
Maryland's leadership in stem cell and regenerative medicine research — anchored by its biopharmaceutical industry, more than 70 federal laboratories, and leading academic institutions — makes the state a natural home for Stemora's mission to deliver durable cartilage regeneration to patients.
